Whether you’re just beginning to learn to sew or you’re a seasoned sewer looking to improve your skills, I highly that you pick up a copy of Diana Rupp’s book S.E.W. ~ Sew Everything Workshop. This book is packed with great projects. The patterns are easy and the instructions are extremely clear.
The first part of the book is geared towards the absolute beginner. Here you’ll learn how your sewing machine works, how to work with fabrics & threads , and how to read a patterns. Additionally it discusses how to choose colors, sewing techniques for darts, zippers, gathering, making hems, and how to prep for your projects.
The second half contains the projects which are subdivided into clothing, accessories, home, and gifts. There’s also ten ready to cut patterns!
You’ll find great directions for making FUN everyday items like:
Foxy Boxy Shorts
Breezy Skirts and more!!
This is a fabulous way to learn to sew. The projects are loaded with great pictures and the instructions are thorough. The projects are rated one to three spools to help you start easy and progress as you build skills. And while most sewing books read like textbooks; this book is the exception. Great detailed instructions and a healthy dose of humor set this book apart!
