Throw pillows are a great way to easily add interest and breathe new life into the decor of any living space. In this weeks Inspiration Friday post we’ll take a look at some spectacular designer throw pillows and give tips on how you recreate the look of these gorgeous accent pillows.

You don’t have to be a dog lover to appreciate this Yorkie Pillow. Here the designer used a vintage embroidered fabric and 3″ Gold Tassel fringe to create this classic look.
If you are lucky enough to own an embroidery sewing machine, you too can create this look. First you’ll need to select the picture that you would like to use. If the image is already in digital format (jpeg, png, etc) then you just need to make sure that you save it in the correct format that your sewing machine can read then embroider the design on your fabric.

What little girl wouldn’t love to have a couple of throw pillows like this in their bedroom? This is a fun & creative design was created by Maggie Hunt. Here the she used bold colored silk dupioni and accented the design with a frilly eyelash fabric fringe. To give the center of the flower more of a 3-d effect she used the same eyelash fabric fringe in a contrasting color.
These silk pillows are trimmed with jasper red silk, gold cord and freshwater pearls.
This elegant look was achieved by using velvet upholstery fabric 3/8″ gold poly check cord with edge and luxurious gold tassels. as any good sewer knows you have to pre-treat your fabrics prior to using. So you pre-shrink your beautiful cotton fabric, but how ( and should) you also pre-shrink your fabric trim? And once you’ve completed your project what can you do to ensure that your beautiful Conso or Wrights trim is as lovely today as it was the day you purchased it?
At Murray the Monster, we get asked this question all the time. And while the general rule-of-thumb is that you should pre-treat your fabrics & notions in the same way in which you plan on laundering the completed project, It is always best to follow the manufacturers care instructions.
